About Lovers Cove Snorkel Tours

Your snorkeling experience will begin at Catalina Snorkel & Scuba, directly across the street from the heart of Lover’s Cove waterfront. There you’ll meet your instructor and receive an introduction to the world of snorkeling.

Next, you’ll get acquainted with your equipment for the tour – a mask and snorkel set, wetsuit, snorkeling vest, and fins. (Prescription masks are also available upon request.) Your safety is our highest priority, so you’ll learn proper techniques and important procedures that will help keep your experience a safe and happy one.

Now the adventure begins! As you enter the water from the shore, your senses will immediately begin to appreciate the sights, sounds, and textures of Lover’s Cove. The clean, clear water, the fresh sea air, the brightly-colored fish… it’s a snorkeler’s paradise!

The beauty of the Lover’s Cove experience is that it’s not just a snorkeling tour - it’s also a marine eco-tour. Your Catalina Snorkel and Scuba instructor will teach you about Catalina's diverse marine life and how it coexists with the undersea garden of giant kelp – the fastest growing plant in the world. Living within the kelp’s eco-system are dozens of species of fish and invertebrates, including sea stars, sea cucumbers, sea urchins, lobsters, and octopus. Your instructor will free-dive to the seafloor and gather marine animals to bring up to the surface. You’ll get to touch and experience the marine life first-hand as the instructor passes them around for all to appreciate. Your instructor will even feed the fish during the tour so you're able to witness a "feeding frenzy". Imagine snorkeling with hundreds of fish just an arm's reach away!

In all of the excitement, you may not want to leave the water, so after 45 minutes of guided snorkeling and instruction, you are free to continue snorkeling on your own at no additional charge. You’ll walk away from Lover’s Cove with newfound knowledge of marine life, incredible memories, and a smile on your face!
